Traditional Doughnut is my favorite

I believe many people are disappointed, just like I am, with the current political developments in the country. There are many strange things happening, like appointed court cases in the cabinet, even those who lost are appointed. Only those who appoint know the rationale, although we can guess why it happens.

We just have to believe in destiny. Everything happens with only Allah's permission, whether good or bad. However, if it is something bad, we will receive a proper reward, not in this world, but in the afterlife.

If you are a fanatic supporter, anything that is presented, even in court, is still considered slander. But at the same time, we forget that we deny the allegations of slander and evil acts of others, forgetting that we have also slandered others for doing evil and slandering.

My stance is simple, return to Allah. Everything that happens, good or a test, is good for the believers. If it meets what is desired, say thanks, if not, we must be patient. We cannot be deceived by the world because it is full of tricks. We should not consider anything as a blessing because it might be a disaster. Likewise, vice versa.

So don't be overly political to the point of sin and regret in the afterlife. This is a message for myself too. Some curse when there is a statement that disagrees with them. Why do they do that, isn't it a sin? Most of those who curse do not get anything in this world. They don't get a pay raise or projects either. OK, that's it for now.

But the "Che Mek Molek" cake is special, sugar is added into the cake. It is fried with low heat so that the sugar breaks down. So when we take a bite, the sugar will melt.

Like other cakes, this traditional cake has been modernized by being mixed with Malacca sugar, which is very famous in Malacca. A little rice flour is also added to make the skin crispy and the filling still soft.

Let's enjoy the recipe and preparation method below. Happy trying!

Kuih Keria

Ingredients:

275 grams mashed sweet potato

½ cup flour + 1-2 tablespoons

Syrup ingredients:

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup water

1 tablespoon flour

Instructions:

  1. Boil sweet potato until soft, mash while still hot and let cool.
  2. Gradually mix in the flour. Take a small amount of the mixture and form it into a ball, flatten slightly. Then, make a hole in the center using your finger. Note: If it sticks to your hand, you can wipe your hands with a bit of oil.
  3. Heat oil and fry over medium heat until cooked. Remove and let cool.
  4. In a pot, add sugar and water and bring to a boil and foam.
  5. Add the fried kuih keria and stir until well combined. Add 1 tablespoon of flour and stir until the flour is dissolved.

Note: If you like kuih keria to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, you can add a little rice flour.
