Mouth Watering Kesar Peda Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 1/4 cup ghee or unsalted butter
  • 1/4 tsp saffron threads, soaked in 1 tbsp of warm milk
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp slivered almonds or pistachios, for garnishing

Mouth Watering Kesar Peda Instructions:

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan or kadhai, melt the ghee or unsalted butter over medium-low heat.
  2. Add the milk powder to the melted ghee and stir well to combine. Cook the mixture for about 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly until it turns light brown in color.
  3. Add the condensed milk to the mixture and stir well to combine. Keep stirring continuously until the mixture starts to thicken and leave the sides of the pan.
  4. Add the saffron milk and cardamom powder to the mixture and stir well to combine.
  5. Cook the mixture for another 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously until it starts to leave the sides of the pan and forms a thick, dough-like consistency.
  6. Eliminate the skillet from the intensity and let the combination cool down somewhat.
  7. Once the mixture is cool enough to handle, knead it well using your hands for a few minutes to form a smooth and pliable dough.
  8. Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and shape each portion into small balls or flat discs.
  9. Press a slivered almond or pistachio on top of each peda for garnishing.
  10. Let the pedas cool completely before serving. Store them in a water/air proof holder at room temperature for as long as 5 days.
