Mouth Watering Kesar Peda
Kesar Peda is a delicious Indian sweet that is made with condensed milk, saffron, and sugar. It is a popular dessert in many parts of India and is often served during festivals and special occasions. Here is a simple recipe for making mouth-watering Kesar Peda at home.
Mouth Watering Kesar Peda Ingredients:
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup milk powder
- 1/4 cup ghee or unsalted butter
- 1/4 tsp saffron threads, soaked in 1 tbsp of warm milk
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- 2 tbsp slivered almonds or pistachios, for garnishing
Mouth Watering Kesar Peda Instructions:
- In a heavy-bottomed pan or kadhai, melt the ghee or unsalted butter over medium-low heat.
- Add the milk powder to the melted ghee and stir well to combine. Cook the mixture for about 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly until it turns light brown in color.
- Add the condensed milk to the mixture and stir well to combine. Keep stirring continuously until the mixture starts to thicken and leave the sides of the pan.
- Add the saffron milk and cardamom powder to the mixture and stir well to combine.
- Cook the mixture for another 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously until it starts to leave the sides of the pan and forms a thick, dough-like consistency.
- Eliminate the skillet from the intensity and let the combination cool down somewhat.
- Once the mixture is cool enough to handle, knead it well using your hands for a few minutes to form a smooth and pliable dough.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and shape each portion into small balls or flat discs.
- Press a slivered almond or pistachio on top of each peda for garnishing.
- Let the pedas cool completely before serving. Store them in a water/air proof holder at room temperature for as long as 5 days.
