Indian Style Chocolate Modak Recipe

Chocolate Modak

Chocolate modak is a modern take on the traditional Indian sweet that is usually offered to Lord Ganesha during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. It is made with chocolate and mawa (khoya) and is an easy and delicious sweet that can be made at home.

Chocolate Modak Ingredients:

  • 2 cups crumbled mawa (khoya)
  • 1 cup chopped dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • A few saffron strands (optional)
  • Ghee or oil for greasing

Chocolate Modak Instructions:

  1. Heat a heavy bottomed pan on medium heat and add the crumbled mawa to it. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the mawa starts to soften and turn slightly brown.
  2. Add the chopped dark chocolate to the pan and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes until the chocolate melts and mixes with the mawa.
  3. Add the powdered sugar, milk, cardamom powder, and saffron strands (if using) to the pan and mix everything well. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the combination thickens and begins to meet up.
  4. Eliminate the dish from intensity and let it cool down for a couple of moments.
  5. Grease your palms with ghee or oil and take a small portion of the mixture in your hand. Shape it into a small round ball and press it gently to form the shape of a modak. Rehash the interaction for the leftover blend.
  6. Allow the chocolate modaks to cool down and store them in an airtight container.

Your delicious Chocolate Modak is ready to serve! Enjoy the modern twist on the traditional Indian sweet with your friends and family.
